Kapa‘a Couple First In Nation To Convert Septic To Groundbreaking Eco-Friedly Technology

A Kapa’a couple leads the way in environmental change after upgrading their domestic sewage system to a more environmentally friendly one. The system was converted as part of a pilot project in cooperation with Wastewater Alternatives & Innovation, WAI for short, Cinderella Eco Group and Environmental LLC. Application of this Cinderella system could potentially mitigate Hawaii’s chronic sewage pollution as a modern alternative to high-maintenance composting toilets and support a cost-effective and environmentally friendly cesspool conversion technology.

The Owensboro Community & Technical College hosted an informational session for the Plumbing Technology FastTrack program on Tuesday, February 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Industry Innovation Center on OCTC’s main campus.

FastTrack programs use an “earn-and-learn” model that provides students with the opportunity to earn credentials quickly so they can start working in their field of interest as quickly as possible. Plumbing FastTrack courses begin with an online introductory course as well as laboratory courses that cover basic plumbing skills, plumbing principles, plumbing systems, and rough work of plumbing.

At the end of the 12-month program, the student earns several certifications including 1st year plumbing mechanic, certified reflux tester, graduate plumber, service and repair plumber, raw plumber, 2nd year plumbing mechanic, and maintenance plumber.
