Pittsburgh is currently facing a significant plumbing staff shortage, with only one plumber employed to maintain over 200 public water fountains and other essential services. To combat this, the City Council has approved legislation allowing the hiring of external contractors to support the city’s plumbing needs. This move aims to ensure that public amenities remain operational and well-maintained.
